Before his appointment as special advisor to Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, St. Paul's Trustee Keiffer Mitchell served the School as an Admissions Associate, Diversity/Outreach Coordinator, and U.S. Government and Politics teacher. He has also taught at Johns Hopkins University and Towson University as an adjunct professor, and at his alma mater, Boys' Latin. Keiffer was a member of the Maryland House of Delegates from 2011-2015, and a member of the Baltimore City Council from 1995-2007.
“The progress toward achieving any diversity initiatives starts at the top. St. Paul’s leadership, from the Headmaster, to the Heads of School, to the Athletic Directory, all don’t just talk the talk, they walk the walk. Because of their support, and that of the faculty, we’ve been able to achieve a lot in making campus a welcoming place for all students and parents.
Increased diversity makes us a better school. Interacting with people from different backgrounds is a part of a strong education, and prepares you for when you get out in the real world. It’s so gratifying to see how students of all cultures, races and religions connect with each other here, and thrive. People at St. Paul’s don’t care where you come from or who you are; once you’re here, you’re a valued member of the community.”
